Manteena were commissioned by Aquaterro to design and supply leading product technology to support a 100m shooting range coupled with advance target systems and ballistic protection.

Manteena worked closely with Action Target to deliver this project, with a final completed range installation in June 2020. The range is equipped with the Action Target Total Containment Trap (TCT), which requires minimal maintenance and is equipped with the most efficient lead collection system available, keeping shooters, employees, and the environment safe. The patented design ensures the trap can handle millions of handgun and rifle rounds up to 50 calibre.

It was important for Aquaterro that the range provided a high-level of versatility to allow for weapons/ammunition proofing, but also facilitate key customers and clients from defence and law enforcement organisations to be able to access the range for their own use.

To accommodate this level of versatility, the range is equipped with Action Target’s premier target retrieval system, Genesis. Genesis sets the standard for a new era of shooting range technology. It is a 100% wirelessly operated direct drive rail system which incorporates a fully customisable in-booth tablet operation for a unique user experience. A built-in target camera displays real time visibility of the target silhouette which is key in a 100m range for enhanced shot recognition. Genesis incorporates dynamic features such as 360° turning, pre-programmed drills, and games to challenge any shooter while dimmable white lights in addition to red, white and blue strobes provide optional lighting for any scenario.

Defender class shooting stalls were customised to the client’s needs with both a swing-away and fixed shooting bench option along with clear ballistic panelling between stalls for shooting partner interaction. PEPP acoustic panelling extends downrange from the shooting stalls and extends back behind the shooter to provide acoustic dampening. This is complimented by primary ceiling ballistic baffles with acoustic lining to soften the feel of the shooters end while provided additional sound attenuation, all while ensuring ballistics enclosure is met.
