      This project involved the construction of a new office space for Federal Government functions and upgrade of Hospital and School facilities following the Australian Government’s takeover of administration of the Island.

      Manteena were selected sole source for this project on the basis of our experience delivering projects in remote locations in line with Federal Government compliance and Australian Standards. Norfolk Island is a challenging place to work logistically, and our early planning and ability to maintain a flexible program was critical in achieving the required completion dates.

      Manteena employed a procurement methodology which we developed through our Christmas Island works where by we sought to engage and support local trades wherever possible with assistance from Mainland trades where required. This ensured that the local community remained on side which was ultimately critical in achieving the project outcomes.

      Manteena worked with GHD on this project, as well as a range of Local and Australia-based trades. We are adept at integrating local capability wherever possible and work closely with local company’s to meet the required compliance requirements on Commonwealth projects,
      as well as mentoring their staff to improve their work methods and safety systems. We also integrated a local industry engagement strategy to ensure that we get the most from the local construction industry and leave a long lasting and positive impact on completion.
